Learn How to Make Your Own Banner

While it's probably quicker and easier to head to your local print shop when you need a banner, it can be a lot more fun and creative to come up with your own design and make a banner yourself. With a computer, a printer, and some ingenuity, it's possible to make up a slick banner that can be used for parties and other events for a low cost.

First, figure out how you want the banner to look. If you want to create a hanging banner, you'll need a strong backing (such as vinyl) that allows for ropes or twine to attach so it can hang. If your goal is more of a wall banner or something that is mounted, a more sturdy backing such as cardboard can be used to create the banner. Many craft shops will sell all of the supplies you need to make your own banner in a single store, so talking to the staff there will provide you with a number of options.

Once you have your materials, you can set to making your banner. Use your computer to print off sized letters to use as stencils if necessary, which will allow you to select whichever font you want to use on the banner. Adding a splash of color is easy with felt pens, paint or colored paper. You can also add some 3D elements that come out of the banner if you're so inclined. A couple hours of work and you'll have a party or event banner to be proud of.
